Jerry Sievers (Principal Engineer – Database Systems)
Jerry began using PostgreSQL in 1996 meanwhile consulting on web backend dev work. As the apps and data grew more complex, a simple save/reload from a CGI.pm pickle just wasn’t going to scale. He enjoys sharing with other teams his 30 years of open systems OS platform expertise.
Lately, he’s a principal engineer leading a team of 3 other great DBAs. They manage an environment of over 500 Postgres clusters, some of them 40T large. He was the main source of inspiration and labor for some initial tooling works that have since proved essential. His colleagues each have followed suit, applying personal style to their implementation choices and on which systems they act.
Jeremy Finzel (Database Administrator Tech Lead)
Jeremy is a DBA Tech Lead at Enova. There he has worked on PostgreSQL server and SQL performance tuning, upgrades, many replication technologies, provisioning, high throughput production support, disaster recovery planning, application and reporting architecture, monitoring, extension development, and more! Two of his big recent projects have been the enterprise-wide deployment of pglogical with his own automated DDL replication solution (pgl_ddl_deploy), and architecting a system (pg_fact_loader) to reliably and efficiently build fact tables for operational use. His two strongest areas of expertise are logical replication and SQL performance tuning.
Before Enova, he got started in databases with Microsoft SQL Server, but has never looked back after diving into PostgreSQL. He holds a B.A. in Philosophy and never foresaw being in the world of technology. He and his wife have 4 children and live in Wheaton, IL.
